The Memory of the World Beijing Knowledge Center was established on July 11, 2017 by the School of Information Resource Management, Renmin University of China. The Center will assist the Chinese Memory of the World Committee and the UNESCO Memory of the World Education and Research Sub-Committee to promote the Memory of the World Programme in China. The National Archives Administration of China and UNESCO Memory of the World Education and Research Sub-Committee will recognize and fully support the work of the Center, and provide professional guidance and suggestions to the Center.
Functions of the Center include:
Support the Memory of the World Programme, especially in the field of education and research, to collect and preserve all kinds of materials related to the Memory of the World Programme (printed and electronic materials, including guidelines, books, brochures, etc.) and documents related to the objectives, register inscription, projects and history of the Memory of the World Programme.
Help organize activities related to the Memory of the World Programme (such as exhibitions, seminars, courses, lectures or other promotional activities), cooperate with memory institutions (archives, libraries and museums), academic institutions and non-governmental organizations around the world to promote the development and achievement of the Memory of the World Programme.
Provid measures and strategies for the preservation, restoration and digitization of documentary heritage as a best practice reference for global research partners.
To provide a solid foundation for exploring cooperation with World Cultural and Natural Heritage (WCH) and Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) projects.
